So I Lied...Unintentionally

In my last blog post regarding our new single “Dead Ringer” I stated:

“This new single does not represent a new direction for MSD as well it doesn’t even properly represent the new music projects style. Its more simply a blend of MSD and Tony’s crazy awesome guitar skills. Nothing more, nothing less. Just something fun we wanted to share and hope you enjoy.”

Well, thats no longer true. During the time that I wrote that I had planned on going back to recording as usual, trying to finish the already long overdue E.P. we have been promising everyone for what seems like half a year, if not longer now. I started thinking how fun it was working with Tony on the single and how I always felt as though MSD was lacking something. Sugar had pushed for a guitarist in the past, believing that it would complete the band. However, I was adamant on keeping the band strictly electronic. After listening to how awesome our new single came out and reading everyones messages and comments saying how much they loved it, I knew now that we could no longer restrict our music to just electronic. We needed a guitarist. So WTF? Why not ask Tony to join my crazy ass band? I would much rather work with someone that I was already in crazy ass hardcore bands with before. So I asked him and he said yes and for the past few weeks I have been working with him on rerecording all the songs for the “Drown Out E.P.”.
At the moment we are working on the songs “Adrenachrome” and “Drown Out” and they sound simply amazing. I no longer feel as though MSD is missing anything and we really think that now is the time for us. Everything feels right now and I’m very excited for things to come.
Some of you might be bummed that we’re adding a guitarist and that we’re moving away from the style of “the verge of suicide”. I can only say that it was fun, but MSD is destined for other things.

Who knows, I could always start an industrial side project?

Here is the story behind our newest single “Dead Ringer”:

For the past month or so, I have been working with guitarist Tony Terneson on a new music project (we don’t have a name for it yet). He is a long time friend that I have worked with before in a few different bands. After promising everyone to release something on Halloween and realizing “Drown Out” was nowhere near ready I had the idea of asking Tony to do a song with me for MSD. We had a lot of fun recording “Dead Ringer” and we’re very happy with the way it came out. We didn’t have time to finish recording the backup vocals or time to finish mixing and mastering it, but we still love it and plan on making this collaboration a new Halloween tradition. This new single does not represent a new direction for MSD as well it doesn’t even properly represent the new music projects style. Its more simply a blend of MSD and Tony’s crazy awesome guitar skills. Nothing more, nothing less. Just something fun we wanted to share and hope you enjoy.

MSD News:
Ashley and I plan on starting a clothing and accessory company which we hope to have online within two months. This is something we have been working on for some time and I think all of you are going to love our designs. As soon as we have a few items ready we will put the website up and simply add products to our line as we finish them. We’ve been working very hard on this and I can’t wait to get it up and running.

Progress on our next release “Drown Out E.P.” continues with a completion date hopefully this fall (thats vague! ;). I know its taking forever. I hate it too. To pass the time check out and subscribe to our Official Youtube Channel:

Did We Say Halloween?

So here’s what’s going on with MSD;

Progress on our upcoming E.P. isn’t moving along as quickly as I hoped. Even with getting only 5 hours of sleep a night and limiting my PS3 gaming to a single day a week, we’re going to need a miracle to have it done by Halloween. Problems with crazy feedback and buzzing in our new studio aren’t helping either, but after I get some new equipment tomorrow those problems should be solved.

We will release something this October 31st, most likely 2 or 3 completed songs. Then later this fall the complete E.P. will be released and we’ll start playing shows again.

We do have some really awesome news, but we can’t share it with you now. It’ll ruin the surprise.

As far as our E.P is concerned, recording has been going very well. Im starting to get very excited listening to all of the tracks together. I really think its going to be awesome.

Im feeling a little stressed. Things are going well, but damn. I need a vacation.
On an unrelated note, I just watched the movie “Religulous” a few nights ago and thought it was funny as hell. If you haven’t seen it I strongly recommend you watch it. Even if your an extremely religious person, you above all others should watch the entire thing. There are many facts in the movie that may open your eyes. That is unless your afraid of a little movie… or just too brainwashed to have an even slightly open mind. For those of you who don’t believe in “God”, there is an important message at the end of the movie.

E.P. to be Released on October 31?

Since I last blogged, thankfully, there has been much progress. Our new music studio is finally done! As it turns out it was a bad decision of mine to start working on music before I even finished building everything. Its kinda hard to concentrate when your surrounded by tools, you keep tripping on wires, and the floor is covered with nails and sawdust. So I spent nearly all of two weekends sweating and bleeding and getting aggravated just to get that shit done and over with! And fuck yes I am really happy to be done with it. Don’t get me wrong, I like building and creating things, but fiberglass insulation is evil. Makes you itchy as hell …and nails go through feet easily. Not that that happened to me, I’m just saying.

I’ve seen it happen.

Once.
Maybe twice, but that’s besides the point.

(Point) —> Now that our studio is complete we can focus on our upcoming E.P., “Drown Out” which we plan on releasing no later than October 31st this fall. That should give us plenty of time to rerecord the vocal tracks, make some changes, and mix/master everything. Maybe even squeeze in a photo shoot. The only problem I can imagine with a Halloween release date is the actual production of the cd itself. I looked into it a bit already and some producers have guaranteed a quick turn around, but you never know. It would be a shame if we didn’t make it in time though, I always wanted to have a release on Halloween.

Uprooting Mighty Oaks is a Sinch

Its been a long time, once again, since we’ve updated everyone on our progress. Just recently we’ve moved even closer to Philadelphia, into a nicely sized house near the Deleware River. Unfortunatly since we’ve moved we have to build ourselves a new music studio… again. Most of our equipment is already hooked up, but we still have a wall to build and sound-proofing to be done. Should only be another week or so until that’s done, but in the meantime Ill be working on mixing and mastering some of our new tracks from our upcoming E.P.

Speaking of our E.P., I’m not sure if we already mentioned it, but we are planning on rerecording all the vocal tracks. I’m just not happy with the way they turned out and want to try something new. With the new studio being even bigger this time round we are going to build a larger vocal booth. I’m hoping with the added room Ill have more space to go crazy while screaming my head off, resulting in better vocal tracks. That’s science kids :) trust me I’ve done the math.

As far as merch goes, we’re planning on printing up some new shirts with a new design soon. We’ve already printed a few test ones, and they look pretty killer. We’re also going to bring back our mail order form for those of you who don’t have a credit card or paypal account. Granted its a little slower, but at least you’ll be able to get our merch without harassing close relatives;)

We’re also going to be starting a mailing list and street team very soon. With both you’ll be able to get updates and free MSD stuff! So keep it in mind if you want to help support MSD.

There’s a lot going on right now, more than I’m even sharing with you (secrets!?) Gotta save some surprises. I’m thinking of this as somewhat of a new beginning for MSD. Instead of turning a new leaf we’re uprooting the whole fucking tree!

Merch Merch and News

Merch.
So we are now in the stages of designing and producing our first black t-shirt. Many of you have been asking us about our Merch or should I say, lack there of. And your all correct in reminding us how sad it is that after nearly 4 years of being a band all we have is one white t-shirt.

Since I started this band, I’ve been reluctant to pay a company tons of money to produce merch for us. They charge way too much and I would have to sell t-shirts for nearly $20! I know that’s what all bands do and that you as a fan are used to it and willing to pay, but I didn’t want any part of it. Anarchy! I didn’t want to over charge my fans. That’s why our debut cd, “The Verge of Suicide” is cheaply printed and is selling for only $9.99. I printed it cheaply to pass the savings on to all our fans. The same goes for the white t-shirt we have for so cheap.

All that is well and good, but its only hurting all of us. So I’ve decided to change and change is better than good. This new black t-shirt won’t be cheap for either of us, but it will be a step in the right direction.

I love music, and I love creating it. It is my passion and I want to do it for the rest of my life. If that means I must sell t-shirts then fine, t-shirts will be made. I’m not looking for wealth, I just am hopeful that someday soon music will be my one and only “job”. And if you enjoy MSD and want more from us, just think; the more you support us by buying our Merch and the more you spread the word of our awesomeness. The more likely it is that we will be able to call music our one and only “job”. I could only imagine how much we could record if we had that time. It would be amazing.

We're Having Problems...go figure

For some reason we are not getting all of your merch orders from PayPal. So far it has only been 3 orders we did not receive an email notification for, but even that is unacceptable. We are not sure if the problem lies with PayPal, our web host, or the prog we use to get our emails. Whatever it may be, we have a simple solution.
How about we just check our PayPal account on a daily bassis?
You like that?
I though of it all by myself.
Because thats how awesome I am.

Also, we have decided to no longer offer an option for “Priority” shipping on orders placed within the United States. As it turns out its kind of a rip off. You pay twice as much and you get your package in the same ammount of time.
Thats no good.
So if you order something within the next few days DO NOT select the “Priority Shipping” option if you live in the U.S. If you do, we’ll ship it “Express”, keep the extra money, and blow it all on useless junk and or drugs and alcohol.
And you dont want to spend your hard earned dollars on that…do you?

Its been quite a long time since we’ve posted some news. Lately the band has just gotten back into the swing of things in the studio. In all honesty, up until a few days ago we haven’t been recording much, just screwing around as per usual. We are very nearly done a new song though and we will post it and make it available in mp3 format as soon as we finish the rough mix. Its sounding awesome and I can’t wait till everyone hears it. After we post this new song, we will only have one more to record before we are done the E.P. I can’t wait for it to be done so we can start playing some shows again. Depending on how things go, we are even planning on making a music video. Its something we’ve wanted to do since the last album and now its really seeming like a possibility.

Please be sure to add us and “like” us and whatever the fuck else you can do to help promote MSD! We need all the help we can get to let people known that MSD even exists, so help us out!
